I am in training for ITIL IT Infrastructure Library. You might not have heard about it if you are in the USA, but you will.
Boiled down it is a group of best practices for working in IT. Good certification to get and helpful to know the information when your trying to set up a service desk.

CNET article goes into details on how our government wants to curtail your freedom by yelling terrorism. This is just wrong. We should hold our hard won freedoms and not let anone take them away or give them up through inaction.

I took My Laptop to the local town pool club. Also my BlackBerry and cable in case I wanted to go online.
Turn on the laptop and I find 8 Networks. Not one secure. A couple with all out of the box default set and remote admin left on.
Someone paid Geek Squad to come out, their unsecured network bears the GEEK SQUAD name.
It really is not hard to secure your network. I mean if I was going to commit internet crimes I can now sit in the lawn chair at the local pool club and the RIAA will have someone else’s IP number to sue.
We know those guys would “never sue innocent people” right.
If you have a wireless router you are using and need help to secure. Post here and I will let you know what to do or at least where you can get the directions.

OK This morning we had a strange scare on our network.
One of our directors was working, he has 2 PCs on his desk. At 8 AM sharp he gets both PCs go to a black screen and do a pop up that contained the words “Freedom Of The Mind”. He also got the entire network dropping at the same time.
Everything was back up very quickly, but what the hell was that.
We are investigating and if we find it I will let you know
