Webby’s World: Ah, I love BitTorrent…
Most of you reading this probably reading my blog know what BitTorrent is, you probably even use it regularly. For those who don’t know BitTorrent is a P2P network (sort of).
BitTorrent is impossible to bring down. There’s no central server. Also, you can’t search it as simply as you can as Gnutella or DirectConnect. Like ED2K, you have to connect to different servers which have exchange information about a file’s status (total peers) but none of the file actually goes through them. These servers are called trackers. This might all change though… but I can’t be bothered to go into that.
